What good was Simon's faith?

It seemed purposeless for Simon to be standing on top of the pillar. He could have prayed more discreetly on the mountains in the scenery behind him if he wanted to be up higher. He wanted Christ to come get him but it was Satan who kept showing up to tempt him instead. How ironic and disheartening for such a faithful man. I do not understand why his beard was parted the entire scene. Maybe it was a version of the red sea parting. The dancing at the end reminded me of Footloose or Dirty Dancing. Of course there would be dancing in hell! I think Simon’s life may have been more useful getting to know his mother and possibly finding a woman or a man if he so chooses, to enjoy life with. He could still pray while living life!

  1. You make some good points on Simons visibility on pillar and the types of people that showed up below. The dancing at the end reminded me of the secret clubs in NYC and a wild time back in the 60's or 70's.

  2. This is a comment on the post, not the movie. "finding a woman or a man if he chooses"???? Really? While there was seduction in the movie where did this political statement come from? or is it just a politically correct statement to ensure that a pro-gay person wouldn't be offended that the original premise was "finding a woman."

Could have been "he would have enjoyed his life more if he explored gluttony instead of suffering. If medical marijuana was legal he could eat more of his fill, deal with his issues and sleep all day." just saying.
