International Cinema: Bicycle Thieves

I enjoyed the father son relationship that was portrayed throughout the movie. It was funny to me to see all the bicycles on the road and to remember that was once the main method of transportation. It was nice to see the community supporting each other in search of the bike and standing up for each other whether they are criminals or not. This day in age I don't believe this would happen.

  1. I thought the acting was very good. Especially the young boy. I had to giggle when he tripped and was asked by the father what happened. His arm gestures and fluctuation of his voice is unforgettable to me. I wondered if the fall had actually been written into the script, or if he just happened to trip and new to keep going until the director called, "cut". That poor kid had of become so tired during the shooting of this movie with the heat and running all around Rome for hours at a time. :)

The last several minutes of the movie was also heartbreaking. I don't want to give anything away in case others have not seen it, yet, but I will say I felt the emotions of the father and son.

    Good movie.

  2. The bicycle thief movie had a unique twist in its plot because the character experienced a loss by means of a crime, only to committ the same crime in an attempt to secure another bicycle, thus causing another person the same anguish that happened to him. The speed of the movie was on time making it easy to follow.
