"Beasts of the Southern Wild"

"Beasts of the Southern Wild"
This movie is a blast of sheer, improbable joy, a boisterous, thrilling action movie with a protagonist who can hold her own.
This film is a remarkable creation, imagining a self-reliant community without the safety nets of the industrialized world.

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" is a must see film. I am glad I had the opportunity to attend the showing at Eckerd College, Friday night.

  1. "Beasts of the Southern Wild" was a fantatic film! It takes a very talented director to capture the raw emotion of real life. The use of music, sound, and imagery made the "beasts" come to life.

  2. I was truly speachless and taken back by the lifestyle, and the complete abandonment to nature. It is not hard to imagine the beasts and to feel the raw emotions of a young girl left to care for herself at a very young age. She finally conquered the beasts (her fears) and showed the world that she was here to stay. Maybe a difficult movie to watch for some of us, but a must see for everyone! The director picked the right people for the rols of the Father and young Daughter.I hope to see more of them in the future.

  3. I truly enjoyed how the characters developed, especially hushpuppy, she was quite a firecracker! We watched & saw how she matured before our eyes on the screen. When the movie opened, she was a child, but by the end, she was helping her father seek closure. Many of us wait out whole lives to do this, but Hushpuppy's environment & circumstances gave her no time to wait. She was truly a strong little girl!

  4. This movie was superb. The depiction of the beast each time it entered a scene. I sensed the strength and power release through sound and size.
